Covered Walkway Project

With the rainy season upon us, many members have asked about a covered walkway from the church to the entrances of the education building.  Unfortunately, the church does not have any extra funds to undertake this project.  However, our Building and Maintenance Committee has discussed this and are getting prices for building a walkway.

If you are interested in donating to this project please feel free to designate funds by writing "Covered Walkway Fund" on your check.  It is important, however, that each member continue to give their tithe and their pledge toward our Building Fund and realise that giving toward the covered walkway would be in addition to these other commitments.

As soon as the committee returns with a price for this work we will let everyone know so you can know our goal.

This Is My Father's World

This morning as I left the house to come to the church for the last day of Vacation Bible School the words of the song, "This Is My Father's World" came to mine.

This is my Father’s world, and to my listening ears All nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres. This is my Father’s world: I rest me in the thought Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas; His hand the wonders wrought.
This is my Father’s world. O let me ne’er forget That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet. This is my Father’s world: the battle is not done: Jesus Who died shall be satisfied, And earth and Heav’n be one.
My we be reminded that God is the ruler yet.  The Battle are not done and there will be a day where heaven and earth be one.  This is my Father's world and my I remember that as I live each day.

4th Day of VBS

We had another wonderful day at Vacation Bible School.  We had 163 children and workers at VBS today.

Today we shared with the children about God's plan for salvation.  We had 9 children accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We thank the Lord for these decisions.  Please pray for these children as they walk with the Lord.

Tomorrow will be our last day of Vacation Bible School.  Please pray for our children as we continue to talk to them about Jesus Christ.

Friday night we will have a Family Program beginning at 6:30pm.  The parents and grandparents of the children are invited to come and hear what they learned this week.  Refreshments will be shared after the program.

Today we were blessed with a great day in Vacation Bible School.  We 100 children present today and 60 workers.  We are thankful for our children and all of our workers.

This week our Vacation Bible School has a Mission Project.  We are collecting supplies for our Guatemala Mission Trip.  Here is the list of items we are collecting:
  • Floor mats for babies with stimulating toys and pictures.
  • Floor mats for toddlers to crawl around on
  • Toys that promote learning (shapes and colors)
  • Disinfecting wipes
  • Baby wipes
  • Quality Diapers (all sizes)
  • Crib Sheets
  • Warm, one piece zip up pajamas for all ages
  • Large beach-sized full body towels for bathing
These items can be brought to the church when the child comes to VBS.

The offering we collect each morning will go towards our mission team going to Guatemala in August of this year.

Please continue to pray for our children as they learn more about Jesus.

First Day of VBS

Our first day of VBS is going very well.  It seems to me that we have a good turn out this morning.  We are very blessed with many workers this morning.  Tara Sherrod and Preston Long have done a great job in getting us ready for VBS this week.

This week our children are learning about the Amazing Wonders of God.  Please be in prayer for our children and our teachers this week.

Each morning we are collecting an offering and the boys and girls have challenge each other to see who can raise the most money.  The proceeds of the offering will go to our Guatemala Mission Trip, that a group from the church is taking in August of this year.

So Kind, So Thoughtful: A Letter

Dear First Baptist Church,

I Just wanted to take a minute to tell you thank you all so much for hosting the Lori Soud Morton benefit.  It would have been impossible without all of you.  From the generous donations to all of the help from workers, you all made the day very special.  I know it meant a lot to Lori to spend the day at her old "home" - First Baptist Church.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!

Love,
Jodi Bell

Deacon Nomination

On Sunday, June 3rd, the members of First Baptist Church nominated men to serve as Deacons for a three term.  There were 29 men nominated this year and of those nominated 2 were not members and 4 have not been a member for a year.

The Deacon Body will be meeting on Tuesday, June 5th to begin praying over these men that were nominated to serve as deacons and seek God's direction.  The Deacon Body will then bring a recommendation to the church for it's approval.

Please be in prayer for our deacons as we go through this process!
