From the Pastor's Desk - September 2010 Newsletter

In the month of September we have several things going on in our church. The first is the Maguire State Missions Offering that we will take on September 12th. The Maguire State Mission Offering is very important to the state of Florida and the work we do in Haiti.

This year’s state mission emphasis, with the theme “Taking Jesus into the Neighborhood” will highlight four of the 27 ministries funded through the offering—interest-free loans for new churches, free mobile dental unit for the needy, church revitalization, and partnership missions.

Without Florida Baptists’ gifts to the state mission offering, these 27 ministries—which serve to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to every person in the state—could not be done. Please pray about what you and your family could do for the Maguire State Mission Offering. Our Goal is $2,500.

The second opportunity we have this month is getting ready for our Pumpkin Patch Ministry. Our Pumpkins will be arriving on Friday, October 1st around 5pm and we will need help unloading all of the pumpkins. Saturday, October 2nd will be our first day of operation and our hours will be 10AM to 6PM Monday through Saturday and 1PM to 5PM on Sundays. We need volunteers who would be willing to serve 2 hour time periods. We have volunteer binder where you can sign up for any day you would like to serve. Our Grand-Opening will be Saturday, October 9th at 10AM. We will have pumpkins that cost as little as 50 cents; we will have homemade goodies for sale, game time and story telling time upon request. All proceeds of this ministry will go to missions. If you have any questions you can call Mrs. Vanita Howard at 675-0905. We will need people to read stories to children when schools bring their classes. This would be a great ministry to be involved in. On Sunday, October 31st we will have our Trunk or Treat. Start making plans for your Trunk!

Our Deacon Body is recommending three men to be considered as new Deacons at First Baptist Church. Ron Zimmerly and Herod Spangler have been ordained as deacons already. Josh Thomas would be ordained by this church if elected to serve. We will vote on this recommendation this Sunday, September 12th at 6pm.

Come and be apart of our church family here at First Baptist Church. Our Future Is Now!
